Fans decode the hidden message in her latest Instagram story. Is there a rift in the studio?
Kenya's biggest Afropop star has sent the internet into a frenzy with a cryptic social media post that many believe targets a well-known music producer she's worked with for the past four years.
What Did She Really Say?
The post, which has since been deleted but screenshotted thousands of times, contained lyrics about betrayal and broken trust: "You smiled in my face while counting your coins, I was too blind to see the greed in your eyes." The artist followed it with three fire emojis and a praying hands emoji.
Industry insiders suggest this could be related to a rumored fallout over royalty payments from her platinum-selling album "Midnight Encounters," which sold over 2 million copies across East Africa but reportedly netted her less than she expected.
"She was supposed to get Ksh 45 million from that album based on their original deal. Insiders say she only received Ksh 18 million. The man is a thief," one music industry source told NAIPULSE anonymously.
The producer, who has worked with multiple platinum-selling artists in the region, has not publicly responded. His last Instagram post from three days ago shows him in the studio with another artist, with the caption "New era, new energy." The afropop queen's record label has also remained silent on the matter.
